Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of the Ecuadorian Amazon

The CONFENIAE ( Confederación de Nacionalidades indigenous de la Amazonia Ecuatoriana, German Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of the Ecuadorian Amazon region ) is an umbrella organization of indigenous organizations in Ecuador's Amazon region and an important player in the indigenous movement in Ecuador. It was founded in 1980 on the initiative of the organizations of the Shuar centers and established themselves in 1986, the national umbrella organization CONAIE with which she still belongs. Their orientation is compared to ECUARUNARI more on ethnic interests construed as limited to class interests, which has led to repeated stresses within the CONAIE.

Current President of the CONFENIAE is Franco Viteri.
