Conny Schmalfuss

Conny Schmalfuß ( born October 29, 1975 in Schwedt ) is a former German Water Diving. She started in the art of jumping from 1 m and 3 m- board and 3-meter synchronized diving. Early in her career, she also jumped from 10 m tower, but later focused on the competitions from the board. She won several medals at World and European Championships and participated in two Olympic Games.

Your first big success came Schmalfuß at the age of 15 years at the European Championships in 1991 in Athens, where she won the bronze medal from the 1-m board. In Vienna in 1995 was followed by a silver medal from the 10 m tower. It was the only medal that she could in her career in a tower Competition win. At the European Championships in Seville in 1997, she won her first international title. She won along with Claudia Bockner gold in the 3m synchronized diving. In Istanbul in 1999 she won silver in the same competition, this time on the side of Simona Koch. With Dorte Lindner she repeated in 2000 in Helsinki the silver medal in 3-meter synchronized diving. On the way home the European Championship 2002 in Berlin she then won with synchronous partner Ditte Kotzian gold again. She also won bronze of the 3 m board. The duo Schmalfuß and Kotzian took silver in Madrid in 2004. It was Schmalfuß ' fifth 3-meter synchro medal with four different partners at European Championships in a row. No other water jumper managed comparable.

2001 Schmalfuß also succeeded in winning the first medal at a World Cup. In Fukuoka, she won with Kotzian bronze in the 3m synchronized diving. The pair made in 2005 to follow in Montreal a silver medal. 2003 Barcelona reached Schmalfuß with silver from 1 m board also their only individual medal at World Championships.
