Conrad Homfeld

Conrad Homfeld ( born December 25, 1951) is a former American professional show jumper and Olympic champion. At the Olympic Games 1984 in Los Angeles, he won on Abdullah with the team gold medal and individual silver medal.

Career

Homfeld won at the age of 15 years first national championships in equestrian sport. In 1976 he won with the horse Balbuco the title "leading grand prix horse". In 1978 he won with Balbuco as part of the U.S. team the bronze medal at the World Championships in Aachen. The following year he was elected by the American Grand Prix Association (AGA ) for rider of the year. In 1980, he won, as the second rider in history, the World Cup Final. This year, he was re-elected rider of the year. In 1984 he took part with the Trakehner stallion Abdullah at the Olympic Games after he was nominated in 1980 for the ( boycotted ) Games in Moscow. For the Games in 1984 he won the team gold and silver in the individual competition. Together with Abdullah, he won the following year then again the World Cup finals. At the World Championships in 1986 in Aachen Homfeld was able to record winning a silver medal in singles again. In this year he was at the World Cup finals by third parties.

After the end of his athletic career, he is active as an international course designer, he was also responsible for the 2009 course at the World Cup finals in 2003, at the Stuttgart German Masters 2005, at the Global Champions Tour Final in Doha. Also for the course in show jumping at the World Equestrian Games 2010, he is responsible. He is also active as a coach.
