Contact Energy

The Contact Energy Ltd. is a leading supplier of power generation and electricity supply based in the " Harbour City Tower " in Wellington, New Zealand. The company supplies at the national level a circle of more than half a million commercial and private users. Additional services include the supply of liquid and gas. Contact Energy represents about a quarter of the total electricity supply of the island of New Zealand safe and almost half of the gas supply.

History

Contact Energy has existed since 1996. Society recruited from the public sector awarded "Electricity Corporation of New Zealand", whose operations were taken over. Since May 1999, the company is listed. The shares of the Company are listed on the NZX and have there with 9% share in the third highest index weighting (market capitalization ). It employs about 1150 employees.

Since October 2004, the Australian energy company Origin Energy is from Sydney, with 51% majority shareholder of the company. During the financial crisis of 2008, the company lost about 10 % of its customers, despite the adverse events after the boards increased Manager salaries had been paid.

Other business

The company has nine own power stations in New Zealand and also operates another plant. Outside of New Zealand, the company Contact Energy are about 25 % of the power plants in the Australian state of Queensland. The turbines are located in Auckland, Hamilton and Taranaki; four geothermal plants are located north of the town of Taupo and two hydroelectric power plants on the Clutha River in the south of New Zealand (Clyde Dam ).
