Coptic saints

Many church fathers such as Clement of Alexandria, some well-known bishops like Nicholas of Myra, some monks as Maron, Charbel, Women of the Church ( for example, from Saint Helena to Rebekah Rayes Ar ) and some popes ( Anicetus, Theodore I. ) come from the Christian Orient.

Some saints are recognized by the Eastern Churches and the Catholic Church, although there are saints who are only recognized by one of the two churches (eg Photios I or Ar Rebekah Raye ). This is true in general for the saints who have lived according to the Oriental schism. There are also a number of saints or blessed of the modern era.

Saints recognized by the Catholic and Orthodox churches ( canonized ) were:

  • Catherine of Alexandria ( 3rd or 4th century), saints, one of the 14 Holy Helpers

  • Nicholas of Myra ( December 6 † 326 or 345 or 351), bishop and saint

  • Georg († 303), Martyr
  • John Chrysostom ( 344-404 ) Patriarch
  • Gregory of Nyssa (c. 335, † after 394), Doctor of the Church, Bishop
