Corky Siegel

Corky Siegel ( born October 24, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois, as Mark Paul Siegel ) is an American musician ( harmonica, piano ), singer and composer. He is a member of the Siegel - Schwall Band and founder of the Chamber Blues Group.

Biography

In 1964, the two music students Corky Siegel and Jim Schwall the blues-rock group Siegel -Schwall band. First, the two appeared as a duo before they became a quartet with bassist and drummer.

The Siegel - Schwall Band in 1968 was the first blues band to a symphony orchestra. William Russo's Three Pieces for Blues Band and Symphony Orchestra was released in 1973 by Deutsche Grammophon.

Without the seal - Schwall Band Corky Siegel took in 1975 with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra Street Music: A Blues Concerto on, also composed by William Russo; also the conductor Seiji Ozawa was the same as in the Three Pieces. Street Music was released in 1979 for the first time on record.

In 1988 he founded the Chamber Blues Siegel Group, combines the classic with blues and jazz. The group consisted of a string quartet, a percussionist and Siegel on harmonica, sometimes on piano.

Besides numerous other musical projects Siegel, 2004 was a member of the band Chicago Blues Reunion, which released the album Buried Alive in the Blues.

Together with Peter Krammer Corky Siegel wrote a book for musicians and music students. Let Your Music Soar: The Emotional Connection was released in 2007.
