Cormelles-le-Royal

Cormelles -le- Royal is a French town with 4754 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Calvados in the Basse -Normandie. The inhabitants call themselves Cormellois (it).

Geography

Cormelles -le- Royal is situated 3.4 kilometers south-east of Caen on the N 814 which extends around Caen around.

History

Cormelles -le- Royal is mentioned in a document of 1195 Cormellae juxta Cadonum, Latin for " Cormellae at Caen ". 1281, it was mentioned as Cormeiles. It is believed that the name was created by the planting of Speier Lings (French cormier ). The privilege is le- Royal ( " Royal " ) to name, the city has since 1353rd During the French Revolution the additional le -Royal was from 1789 removed from the name and renamed the city in Cormelles -le- Libre. In 1793 it was called then just Cormelles and 1801 was even coronelles common. Until 1969 the town was again called Cormelles -le- Royal.

In the 18th century, during the reign of Louis XV. , The family de la Guérinière moved to Cormelles -le- Royal and settled there a mansion and riding halls build. The property was named after the family La Guérinère. Mansion and riding halls were used as a field office of the Académie d' équitation ( Riding Academy of Caen ) until the French Revolution in 1795 and closed.

1905 Noirmoutier was transformed into a poultry sold in 1909 and delivered in 1920 to a horse breeder. Reached on 19 July 1944, the first Canadian troops (Canadian Scottish Regiment) Cormelles. The former mayor had advised the inhabitants to leave the city. During surgery Totalise Noirmoutier was bombed and destroyed.
