Cornelis Vroom

Cornelis Hendricksz [ oon ] Vroom (c. 1591/1592 probably in Haarlem; ibid † 1661) was a Dutch painter and draftsman.

Family

Cornelis Vroom was the son of the marine painter Hendrick Cornelisz. Vroom born into a family of artists. And place of birth are not known. The artist himself stated in 1649 that he was 58 years old. Education and work

Cornelis Vroom worked first as a student and colleague of his father. His first signed image naval battle between a Spanish galleon and Turkish galleys from 1615 is the only known Marine picture.
