Cornelius Rost

Cornelius Rost ( born March 27, 1919 in Kufstein, Tirol, Austria, † October 18, 1983 in Munich, West Germany ) was a German soldier of World War II, was known by his alias Clemens Forell, under which he supposedly from a Siberian POW camp escaped and 14,000 km marched in an adventurous way by the former Soviet Union and the Far East.

In three consignments of the Bavarian Radio on April 2nd, 3rd and 4th, 2010 the journalist Arthur Dittlmann came after many years of research to the conclusion that rust descriptions, apart from other improbabilities factual nature, can not be true; so he was neither an officer nor been returned in 1952, but already in 1947.

His story was in 1955, after an eight-hour tape - interview written by the Bavarian novelist Josef Martin Bauer, under the title As far as your feet and in 1959 with character actor Heinz Weiss in the lead role in the form of a six- part TV film, also titled So far the feet carry a film. This film was one of the first street sweeper of the still young Federal Republic.

Only in 2001 it was placed again under the title As far as your feet will carry with significantly altered action once implemented.
