Cotapata National Park and Integrated Management Natural Area

The National Park Cotapata ( Parque nacional y área de manejo natural integrado Cotapata (PN y ANMI Cotapata ) ) is a Bolivian national park with an area of 650 km ². The national park was founded in 1993.

Description and Geography

The National Park lies in the northwest of the department of La Paz in the municipality of La Paz in the province of Murillo and in the municipality of Coroico in the province of Nor Yungas, about 50 kilometers from the city of La Paz The park region starts at the peaks of Manquilizani ( 5,324 m), the Telata ( 5,336 m ) and the Illampú ( 5,519 m ) in the west, including large parts of the basin of the Río Huarinilla, un ranges in the east to the mouth of the Río Huarinilla in Elena ( about 1,000 m).
