Cowboys International

Cowboys International was the band of the English singer Ken Lockie that existed from 1979 to 1980.

Band History

Ken Lockie came during the beginning of the punk movement from Newcastle to London. In early 1979 he founded his own band Cowboys International and got through the mediation of his friend Keith Levene a record deal with the major label Virgin Records. A first single Aftermath was released on 20 March 1979, in April and May, followed by a UK tour supporting penetration. A second single was released in June Doing Nothing.

In the summer of 1979 the band went to London Advision Studios to record their debut album The Original Sin. The friendly band Public Image Ltd.. borrowed from their Prophet-5 synthesizer, and Keith Levene guested on a song on lead guitar. Presumably during these sessions worked Lockie and Levene to an instrumental piece that landed in revised form later under the title Radio 4 on the Public Image Ltd LP - Metal Box. Later solo activities

Ken Lockie took in winter 1980/81 at London's Townhouse Studios on his solo album, The Impossible, which was released in May 1981.
