Large-fruited cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon )

The Cranberries are a group of species in the genus of blueberries (Vaccinium ). They are usually treated as a subgenus, but sometimes separated as a distinct genus Oxycoccus. The berries are edible and their representatives have a bitter-sweet, some slightly stale taste. The Cranberries occur (eg in Germany ) in the forest, moor and heather, in temperate regions.

Regional, for example, in the Pinzgau region of Salzburg or in Tyrol, the usual blueberries are called cranberries.
