Crawford Wethington

Arthur Crawford Wethington ( born January 26, 1908 in Chicago, † 11 September 1994), was an American jazz saxophonist.

Wethington attended the Chicago College of Music; Mid-1920s, he worked with the pianist Lottie Hightower before he joined the band of Carroll Dickerson 1928; In 1929 he played in this ensemble in New York City with Louis Armstrong. Between 1930 and 1936 he was a member of the Mills Blue Rhythm Band and participated in several recordings with. In 1937 he took up with Edgar Hayes and then worked with Cab Calloway, Red Allen and Adelaide Hall. After 1937, he ceased to work as a full time musician and then worked as a music teacher; in 1960, he worked at the New York City Transit Authority.
