Credo Reference, formerly Xrefer, is a subscription -based online reference library ( online encyclopedia ).

History

The service was founded in 1999 and is headquartered in Boston (Massachusetts ). In addition, an office in Oxford is maintained (formerly London).

Content

Credo Reference contains online versions of 541 English-language encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauri, quotes collections and books from over 70 publishers (as of May 2011). Including works by Blackwell Publishing, Cambridge University Press, Collins, Elsevier, Encyclopædia Britannica, Faber and Faber, Macmillan, Merriam- Webster, Pearson Education, Penguin, Routledge, Springer, Wiley, and some American university presses.

Use the search function it is possible to look up with a query in the entire inventory or browse individual works. The full texts of the works that are included in Credo Reference are provided specifically for the Internet. Credo Reference created even so-called "Featured content" or " topic pages" to current or other popular topics that are selected from the general offer. In this case, not all recorded content available. Partially missing images or supplementary essays.

For each article Cite an output with multiple citation styles (APA, Chicago, Harvard, MLA).

Subscription

The use is only possible through a subscription that is available only for scientific, governmental, public and private libraries. End users can retrieve the works of a library, which relates the subscription. Librarians can choose from the offer which titles they want to subscribe. The selection can be changed during the term of the subscription.
