History

Crete in 1871, as " Blue River City", the place of the first settler Jesse Bickle, and the district, which belonged to the Burlington & Missouri River Railroad, grew together. The city was named after Crete, Illinois. 1881 emerged the wooden house of high school and three other schools. Crete stood twice for election to the County Seat (1877 and 1927 ), but without success. In the first decade of the 20th century the first theater, " The Lyric " was born, and 1915, then became the " Sokol Hall " dedicated to the then shifted a large part of social life.
