Crocothemis

Crocothemis Servilia mariannae from East Asia

Crocothemis is a genus of dragonflies ( Anisoptera ) of the subfamily Sympetrinae and was erected in 1868 by Friedrich Moritz Brauer. The species of this genus are found worldwide. This is among others the fact that some species, such as Crocothemis Servilia colonize new habitats.

Features

Crocothemis species are medium sized dragonflies and are 41 to 43 millimeters in size. Most representatives are bright red, just Crocothemis sanguinolenta and Crocothemis nigrifrons are orange and blue, respectively.
