Band History

The Russian musician and producer Matvei Anitschkin in 1974 ( голоса Молодые; Russian for Young Voices ), a vocal and instrumental ensemble with the name Molodyje golossa launched. He regularly invited musicians on this project and learned so 1978 know the young guitarist Valery Gaina. 1980 decided Gaina and he to start a new music project. Unlike Molodyje golossa there should be a rock band, and with the addition of other musicians from this project and from the music group Magistral the first line-up of Kruis was completed.

Soon after its founding, the band played a their first album " Krutitsja woltschok ", which contained exclusively self-written songs. This was unusual at the time because it was common in the Soviet Union that rock bands interpreted pieces that were written by state-controlled composers and lyricists. The album was released, as well as the following publications, not a government record label and was distributed mainly for this reason by tape -trading. Thus, the musicians could not make money with record sales and were dependent on live performances. As a professional musician they were considered state employees and had to come to terms with the official in charge, so that they could walk freely on tour though, had but politically adapt to the prevailing system in return. During the Andropov era from 1983 the band were, however, prohibits all live activities, so dodging 1984 in Ukraine and there gave within 45 days 128 concerts to earn money again.

With the political changes under Gorbachev from 1985 the band were again granted all the freedoms and the musicians were top earners. Co-founder Gaina became the head of the band after singer Monin had to leave the band, and turned stylistically the speed and thrash metal to. Kruis played in large stadiums and could publish in 1986 on the state-owned record label " Melodia " their first official record " Kruis -1", which in Russia sold a total of about 12 million times. There followed the first shows outside Russia, Norway, Spain, and in 1987 a sold out tour of Bulgaria. Furthermore occurred Kruis as the opening act on the Russia - tours of Metallica and Slayer. Due to the success of the record industry has been aware of the band and she graduated with a major label WEA and released a recording contract from 1988, the first and only English-language album to date, entitled " Kruiz ". However, due to restructuring at WEA lost the band the record deal. Disappointed, the musicians returned in 1989 from Munich to Moscow and dissolved the band in 1990.

1994 formed the former singer Monin the band new, but without Gaina, who had meanwhile turned to other projects. The band turned to the embossed bands like the early Scorpions Hard Rock and 1997 and published in 2001, each one studio album. Although they are relatively quickly earned a cult following in Russia, they could not build on the international success of the late 1980s.
