Cuatro Ciénegas ( officially Ciénagas Cuatro de Carranza ) is a town of about 10,000 inhabitants in the center of the Mexican state of Coahuila. It is located 740 m. ü. M. Región Desierto and is the administrative center of the homonymous municipality of Cuatro Ciénagas.
History
The city was founded on May 24, 1800 under the name of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores y Cuatro Ciénegas by Antonio Cordero. The city was named after the four marshes, which are in the city.
