The Çukurova ( in antiquity and the Middle Ages, a part of Cilicia ) is a fertile plain between the Taurus Mountains and Gulf of İskenderun. The three rivers Seyhan, Ceyhan and Tarsus flow through the Çukurova and make it a flood plain. Because of this fertile soil is in the Çukurova the largest cotton growing region of Turkey. The Çukurova level is therefore one of the main agricultural areas of Turkey. Other irrigated crops include citrus crops, wheat, all kinds of vegetables, alfalfa and rice.
