Cultus Ferox

Cultus Ferox (Latin for " wild life ", " wild lifestyle ") is a Berlin music group. It is attributed to the so-called " bagpipe rock style " of the medieval scene music, where the band plays both the acoustic, dominated by market bagpipe and percussion variant and also enriched with rock instruments variant of this music ( medieval rock ).

The songs of Cultus Ferox are partly instrumental, some with vocals. The lyrics deal with topics from the medieval life, from legends and myths of pagan religion and more recently reinforced with piracy and related issues.

Band History

The band has formed in late 2002. The group's name comes from the Latin language and means "Wild Life". Her songs comes in part from medieval minstrels and are partially written himself.

The band members played previously at Corvus Corax ( Brandanarius, Strahli, Donar ), dancing feet ( Brandanarius ), Fabula Aetatis ( Briantanus, Asmon ) and Wolgemut ( Steffano ).

After an album of Christmas dances appeared the first full-fledged album, " return", is almost exclusively play music acoustic and instrumental on the 2003. It was followed by the EPs " flame of the sea" and "Departure ". On these EPs is already experimenting with rock influences.

In 2004, only came even as a guest musician PanPeter in January 2005, the band officially added. The end of 2005 Briantanus and Asmon left the band. They first played as a guest musician with Cradem Aventure, but in 2006 decided to revive their old band Fabula Aetatis again. Since 2006, Cultus Ferox is therefore reinforced by Thomasius ( or just " Masius " ), who has already appeared as a guest musician before, and Fedja of Hinnen (since 2007 under the name " El Böslinger ").

In March 2006, the album " Defiance " and the DVD " flotsam and jetsam " with tour reports, videos, concert clips and band information appeared. On the album " Defiance " shows the band stronger than ever from their rocking side. You used in most songs in addition to their acoustic instruments electric guitars, electric bass and drums, and it is sung more often than before.

This Rock concept since even most club shows are played, while concerts are still denied purist at medieval markets with purely acoustic instruments. In their rock shows to Cultus Ferox delimit by a Pirate or seafaring image of similar bands like In Extremo, Xavier Rudd, Schelmish or dancing feet.

The DVD / CD " Rumtour " shows the band at one of their rock shows. The guitarists are Burny C and Rudi Rudell. The electric bass served Marauders Rudolph.
