Cupressus goveniana is a plant belonging to the family of the cypress family ( Cupressaceae ). It is native to the west of California.

Description

Cupressus goveniana grows as evergreen shrub or small tree of the plant height of 10 meters, in Außnahemfällen can even reach up to 50 meters. Distribution and location

The natural range of Cupressus goveniana located in Western California. They can be found there on the northern coast, in the Santa Cruz Mountains and on the Monterey Peninsula. The entire collection consists of around 15 separate sub-populations of which comprises no more than 250 trees.

Cupressus goveniana thrives at altitudes 60-800 meters. It grows mainly in coastal pine forests on poor soils.

Threats and conservation

Cupressus goveniana is in the IUCN Red List as "vulnerable" out. The variety abramsiana is listed as " critically endangered ".
