The narrow blade runner or mountain - bucket rotor ( Cychrus attenuatus ) is a beetle of the genus blade runner ( Cychrus ).
Description
The narrow blade runner is slightly smaller than the ordinary blade runner with a body size of 13 to 17 millimeters. He is also black, but striking bronze shiny. The thigh (femur) are really black, the lower leg (tibia) on all legs conspicuous yellowish red. He also lives in moist coniferous forests or in alder swamps, also in beech forests. It can be found during the day in moss beds or under bark. It is missing in the lowlands and is found only in the heights of the middle and high mountains (Alps ) to the end of the forest zone.
Occurrence
The distribution area of the Narrow blade runner extends over central and northern Europe, where it is also found in the Italian Alps, the Pyrenees and the Carpathians, Russia
