Cyprus Turkish Airlines
Kıbrıs Türk Hava Yollari ( kthy, international and Cyprus Turkish Airlines) was a national airline in Cyprus, based in Istanbul and a subsidiary of Turkish Airlines.
History
On 4 December 1974, Turkish Airlines and the reigning Cypriot - Turkish government established each with equal proportions, the airline Cyprus Turkish Airlines in Nicosia ( Lefkoşa ). The first flight took place on February 3, 1975. 1976 aircraft types Douglas DC-9, Boeing 727-200 and Boeing 707 were hired. The first flight to London took place in 1981. 1990 the fleet was expanded by the purchase of two Boeing 727-200.
1992 consecrated the kthy a their new office building.
The fleet augmentation was realized through the purchase of a Boeing 727-200 in 1993, an Airbus A310 -200 in 1995 and each a further copy of the same in 1996 and 1999. Long-term agreements have been signed in 2000 for three Boeing 737-800 in 2001. In 2002, the four Boeing 727-200 were sold. Two years later, three Airbus A321- 200 aircraft rented long term.
On June 23, 2010, the Company introduced the flight operations until further notice. Six days later, the closure was announced.
