Cyrus Faryar

Faryar Cyrus ( born February 26, 1936 in Tehran, Iran) is an American folk musician, songwriter and music producer.

Biography

Born in Tehran, as a child some years in England, Faryar grew up in Honolulu. Dave Guard, one of the founders of the Kingston Trio, was his school friend. From 1957 Faryar had a coffee in Honolulu. 1961 invited a guard him in his new band "The Whiskey Hill Singers" to participate, but was only half a year.

Back in Honolulu Faryar was a founding member of the Modern Folk Quartet, which released two albums before it dissolved in 1966. Later there were several reunions of the group, at times as a quintet.

Cosmic Sounds, the Faryar with Paul Beaver had taken on Moog synthesizer: In May 1967, the psychedelic album The Zodiac appeared. At the Monterey Pop Festival in June 1967 Faryar occurred with a " Group with no Name". In 1968, he played guitar and ukulele at Cass Elliot's album Dream a Little Dream, for which he also wrote two songs.

In the early 1970s published Faryar two solo albums, Cyrus (1971 ) and Iceland (1973). As a producer he worked especially for the comedy group "The Firesign Theatre", as a session musician, among others, with Linda Ronstadt.
