Czerwińsk nad Wisłą

Czerwińsk nad Wisłą is a village and seat of the rural community with 1,280 inhabitants in Poland. It lies north of Sochaczew on the Vistula River, is the powiat Plonski, Masovian Voivodship to.

History

The market towns in Mazovia was mentioned in the 11th century in the privilege for the Benedictine abbey in Mogilno in 1065 for the first time. He belonged since 1075 to the bishop of Plock. The Regularkanonikerabtei ( Cervenscum ) by Bishop Alexander of Plock ( 1129-1156 ) was founded in 1155 ago. The origin of the canons is controversial in the literature, are possible Lateran, Arrouaise, St -Victor in Paris, probably St. Aegidius in Liege.

The art-historically significant monastery church was built in the second quarter of the 12th century. After the founding of the Abbey Czerwińsk ever belonged half to the abbot and the bishop of Plock. The bishop's part was in 1373, the monastic town charter in 1582. 1410 was united in Czerwińsk the Polish-Lithuanian army on the way to the Battle of Tannenberg. 1422 received in Czerwińsk the Polish nobility an important privilege which forbade the seizure of his goods without a court judgment.

1870 Czerwińsk lost its city rights .. In an administrative reform of the place came in 1975 at the newly formed Province Płock. After a renewed reform and the associated resolution of the province it came from 1999 Masovian Voivodship.
