Czesław Lang

Czesław Lang ( born May 17, 1955 in Kolczyglowy, Poland ) is a Polish former racing cyclist.

Career

Amateur

From 1970-1977 he was active in the cycling club Baszta Bytów [note 1] and was trained by coach Euzebiusz Marciniak. In 1975 he was successful in the national Radmeisterschaften in Poland. At the Olympic Games, in 1976 he reached the 5th place in the team pursuit with his team.

Since 1977 he has focused on street racing. In 1980 he won the silver medal at the 1980 Olympic Games in the individual road driving. [Note 2]

He has four times drove the Peace Race, he was also successful in the Tour of Poland.

Professional

1982-1983 drove Czesław Lang for the cycling team Gis Gelati. The next two years for the team Carrera Inoxpran. Afterwards (1986 ), he joined the team Del Tongo (up to 1988); his last year as a pro (1989 ) he drove in the team Malvor - Sidi. All teams were Italian. As a professional, he has participated in the Tour de France three times.

Director

As director of the Tour of Poland, he has expanded the amateur racing to a world -class tour. The race was a multitude of awards and appreciations.
