DÄ…bkowice, West Pomeranian Voivodeship

Dąbkowice ( German name Damkerort ) is a village in Pomerania. It now belongs to the rural community Darłowo (Rügenwalde ) in a circle Sławno ( Schlawe ) of the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Geographical location

The small fishing village Dąbkowice is on the spit between the Baltic and Jezioro Bukowo ( Buckower lake ), nine kilometers south-west of Dąbki ( Dąbki ), with which it is historically associated as the former dwelling place.

Name

The German name of the Polish and shall be derived in the first syllable from the Slavic word for " oak ", that means something like " Eichenort ".

History

Damkerort is a town in the municipality until 1945 Dąbki been with this office for Büssow ( Boryszewo ) in the district Schlawe i Pom. and to the registry office Büssow (based in Lake Buckow ( Bukowo Morskie ) ) have been connected.

The Baltic Sea has repeatedly broken the Spit. The century was expected eight storm surges. In 1801 the lake tore five houses away. It was an offer to relocate the village to the forest of Heidlück Eventin ( Iwięcino ) what the villagers, however, rejected.

In the years 1913/14, there was another flood with heavy damage. 1925 was built east of the village of today's communication-trench from Buckower Lake to the Baltic Sea, the so-called " Buckower Deep". In addition, we fixed the Spit by planting.

The Damkerorter fishermen were fishing right in Buckower lake. Fishing was the main livelihood of the residents, some supplemented their labor in agriculture and livestock. Tourism played no importance until 1945.

In 1818 lived in Damkerort 51 people, in 1871 there were 42 Then the Damkerorter were counted no longer separated by the inhabitants of the municipality Dąbki.

Today Dąbkowice part of Gmina Darłowo in powiat Slawienski.

Church

Damkerort with its predominantly Protestant population belonged until 1945 to the parish See Buckow ( Bukowo Morskie ). Going to church for the village church in the vicarage was by boat across the lake Buckower.

School

Damkerort since 1914 had its own school, visited about 15 children. The teacher lived at the site.
