Dadeus Grings

Dadeus Grings ( born September 7, 1936 in Nova Petrópolis, Rio Grande do Sul ) is Emeritus Archbishop of Porto Alegre.

Life

After his schooling in Brazil Grings studied Catholic theology. On December 23, 1961, he received the Sacrament of Holy Orders by Archbishop Antonio Samore Curia.

On January 23, 1991, Pope John Paul II appointed Bishop of São João da Boa Vista. He received his episcopal consecration its predecessor, Bishop Tomás Vaquero, on 15 March of the same year. Co-consecrators were the retired Archbishop of Porto Alegre, Alfredo Cardinal Vicente Scherer, and the Bishop of Santa Cruz do Sul, Aloisio Sinesio Bohn.

On 12 April 2000 he was appointed Koadjutorerzbischof of Porto Alegre. Following the resignation of the Archbishop of Porto Alegre, Altamiro Rossato CSsR, he stepped on 7 February 2001 at its successor.

On September 18, 2013 Francis Pope accepted his resignation age-related.

In addition to his episcopal activity, he joined as an author of theological books in publication.
