Daisetsuzan-Nationalpark

The Daisetsuzan National Park (Japanese大雪山 国立 公园, Daisetsuzan Kokuritsu Kōen, also Taisetsuzan ) is 2267.64 km ², the largest Japanese National Park and is located on the island of Hokkaido. The park was declared on December 4, 1934 National Park.

Mountain landscape

Daisetsuzan means " Big snowy mountains", a good description of this summit, 5 of which reach over 2000 m and constitute one of the roughest areas of Japan.

They consist of three volcano groups from each other piled layer volcanoes. If a chimney is active, it builds up a mountain and then inactive until a new vent formed and forms a new peak.

The groups are:

  • Daisetsuzan volcanic group in the northern part of the park. It owns Hokkaido 's highest mountain, Asahidake.
  • Tokachi volcano group in the southwest of the park between the Yubari and the Hidaka Mountains. This includes the Tokachi mountain.
  • Shikaribetsu volcano group in the east of the park. To her belongs the mountain Ishikari.

This volcanic groups are around a central highlands, which is dominated by the mountain Tomuraushi.

Wildlife

The park is known for its wildlife, which include brown bears. Other notable species are the Hokkaido sika deer, the black woodpecker, the Giant 's Fish Owl and the Japanese pika. The species of butterfly Parnassius eversmanni and Boloria Freija occur only in this national park in Japan.

Tourism

Attractive for visitors to the park is by its alpine meadows and its many hiking trails. The park is also the hot springs Asahidake Onsen, Sounkyo Onsen Onsen and Tenninkyo.
