The Damen Shipyards Group is a Dutch shipbuilding company with worldwide locations.

History

The shipyard Women was founded in 1927 in Hardinxveld- Giessendam of Jan and Marius ladies. Since then, the yard has established itself as the largest shipbuilding companies in the Netherlands.

In 1967 the shipyard management was taken over by Kommer Damen, the son of Jan ladies. He led the modularity in the yard, in which the outer casing of the ships were manufactured standardized, and then the interior construction was adjusted according to customer requirements.

At the same time expanded the shipyard and is now working at twenty locations in the Netherlands, the main location is in Gorinchem. Moreover, the company has subsidiaries in Belgium, Brazil, China, France, Indonesia, Qatar, Cuba, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Singapore, South Africa, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and Vietnam.
