Dan Millman

Dan Millman ( born February 22, 1946 in Los Angeles ) is a former trampoline champion, physical education teacher and author of more than a dozen self-help books, the most famous is the partly autobiographical novel The Way of the Peaceful Warrior (1986; previously, in 1980, in English as a Way of the Peaceful Warrior ).

Life and work

At the age of 18 years Millman won the first Trampoline World Championships in London in 1964. Four years later, in 1968, he was a leader of the Turner NCAA University of California. He was then gym instructor at Stanford University and Professor of Physical Education ( physical education ) at Oberlin College. He joined at the side of Anthony Robbins the Human Potential Movement, which aims to develop the individual skills of each individual. In earlier years he worked among others with modern dance and aikido. Later, while he traveled around the world, he studied various yoga techniques and martial arts, from which its activities grew as a motivator as well as a speaker and writer on spiritual topics.

He has been teaching for about 20 years, martial arts, yoga, and other mental or athletic disciplines. In addition to numerous lectures and courses he continues to write books. Millman lives with his wife, Joy, in northern California. He has three grown daughters and two grandsons.

The Way of the Peaceful Warrior

The Way of the Peaceful Warrior, Millmans first book, is a novel with autobiographical references and mainly plays during his college years. Initially, the book sold only modestly, this changed supposedly only when Hal Kramer returned from retirement to publish the book again and helped to make it a bestseller.

In summer 2006, Lions Gate Films released under the title Peaceful Warrior, a film adaptation of the book with Scott Mechlowicz and Nick Nolte as a performer.

Summary

The story tells of a chance acquaintance of the young gymnast Dan Millman with a gas station attendant. After Millmans right leg was shattered by a motorcycle accident, will this gas station attendant, the Dan " Socrates " is called, a mentor and a spiritual teacher for him. Socrates shows the way how he could be a Placid warrior the young man.

Dan Millman took on the song "Warriors " together with Hamburg's electronic duo Vargo. The track was released in 2010 on the album Precious and has also appeared as a digital EP.
