Danger Danger

Danger Danger is an AOR and glam metal band which was founded in 1987 in the New York City borough of Queens. Although their self-titled debut album was quite a commercial success in the U.S., they disappeared due to copyright disputes and lineup changes soon out of the limelight. Nevertheless, the group is still active today.

Band History

Danger Danger was founded in 1987 by bassist Bruno Ravel and drummer Steve West. Mike Pont was for some time the singer. Following the arrival of keyboardist Kasey Smith was trying to record a demo tape, but this failed. Shortly thereafter, Ted Poley was recruited as a singer, who was the drummer of prophet at that time. This time get the demo recordings and a recording contract with Epic Records could be completed.

1989 Tony Ray ( Saraya ) briefly guitarist, but returned to his former band. Andy Timmons replaced him, and the end of the debut album could be released. The songs " Naughty Naughty " and " Bang Bang " was successfully released as singles, and the band played, among others, in the opening act of the American band KISS, Alice Cooper, Extreme and Warrant.

After that, the group began in the Netherlands with the recordings of the follow-up album Screw It! which was published in 1991. During the subsequent tour ( again with KISS ) Kasey Smith left the band because he did not suit the altered, more guitar-driven style.

In 1993 the work on the next album Cockroach was completed. Surprisingly, singer Ted Poley was released at this time. Due to the subsequent litigation the album could not be posted. In the meantime, Ravel and West Paul Laine enlisted as the new singer and he sang the vocal tracks on the CD, a new. Shortly before the planned publication, Epic and Danger Danger separated but. Frustrated Timmons then left the band to pursue a solo career.

Ravel and West founded his own record label, Low Dice Records, and together with Laine 1995 they released the album Dawn, which was a lot darker and quieter than their previous music. Supported by bassist Scott Brown, they went on another tour through the USA.

With the album Four the Hard Way, published in 1998, the group returned to their original style. The former members Timmons and Smith could be heard here as a guest musician. 2000 The Return of the Great Gildersleeves was published.

After negotiations with Epic was released in 2001 with a Cockroach probably unique double CD. It contained two versions of the same album, even with the singing of Paul Laine and once with Ted Poley. The response was quite positive. 2003 several rare or previously unreleased songs were presented under the title Rare Cuts.

2004 Paul Laine was replaced by the old vocalist Ted Poley.

Was released in 2005 Live and Nude, which was recorded in 2003 and was thus still sung by Paul Laine.

2009 will be the album " Revolve ", which was re- recorded in the original line.
