Daniel Licht

Daniel James Light ( * March 1957) is an American composer who gained notoriety Dexter in particular through his film scoring the TV series.

Life

After Daniel James light at Hampshire College in Massachusetts in 1974 his degree in composition from jazz and world music, he moved to New York, where he tried to prevail in the creative scene of the Lower East Side. He quickly established himself and not only played with jazz musicians such as Don Cherry, Jaki Byard and Dave Amram, he took advantage of New York also to travel as a composer for theater and dance companies from countries such as Germany, Holland, Japan and Indonesia, where he each of the local traditional music studied. After the light had already composed the music for several commercials, it was to compose his former classmate Christopher Young, who asked him about it for the horror film Children of the Night the film music.

Since light was mainly for thriller, action and horror films such as Children of the Corn 2 - Deadly Harvest, Hellraiser IV - Bloodline, Thinner - The Curse and Quatermain and the treasure of King Solomon worked as a film composer. He became better known, however, only by its composition at the crime series Dexter, and finally to the television series Body of Proof Light received 28 January 2012 the price as composer of the year in the third Russian Horror Film Awards in Moscow.
