Daniel McFarlan Moore

Daniel McFarlan Moore ( born February 27, 1869 Northumberland, Pennsylvania, † June 15, 1936 in East Orange, New Jersey) was an American electrical engineer who worked towards the end of the 19th century with electric lighting systems and among other things, according to him named Moore lamp, an early design of a gas discharge tube developed.

After his training he was employed from 1890 to 1894 at United Edison Manufacturing Company, after which he started his own business with Moore Light Company and the Moore Electric Company. In 1895 and the following years he developed and improved the Moore lamp, which he patented in 1902. Moore held a total of nearly 100 patents, in addition to various gas discharge tubes and patents in the field of wireless technology. Moore was shot in June 1936 in the yard in front of his garage by a stranger.
