Worth mentioning

  • The Princely House of Prince Nikola I was the inspiration for Franz Lehár 's operetta The Merry Widow. Even if the name Montenegro was renamed in the original libretto for reasons of censorship in the name of the similar sounding Spanish city Pontevedro: South Slavic -inspired musical numbers and especially the persons name Danilo and Njegoš (name of the Montenegrin dynasty ) can detect this easily; as once Princess Jutta of Mecklenburg -Strelitz married the widow Hanna Glawari a funny operetta Danilo.
