Danny Bank

Daniel " Danny" Bernard Bank ( born July 17, 1922 in New York City; † June 5, 2010 ibid ) is an American jazz baritone saxophonist, clarinetist and flutist. He played in the Gil Evans Orchestra with Miles Davis.

Life and work

At the beginning of his musical career playing with Charlie Barnet 1942-44 Danny Bank, Benny Goodman in 1945, Jimmy Dorsey and Paul Whiteman 1946/47, after, among other things with Artie Shaw 1949/50, Tommy Dorsey 1950/51 and again at Barnet. In the 1950s, Bank worked in New York primarily as a studio musician; he was then in many big band productions obliged as an ensemble player, so when shooting by Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie in 1954/55, Rex Stewart, the Sauter - Finegan Orchestra, Cannonball Adderley, Urbie Green, Clifford Brown and Helen Merrill, Art Farmer, Wes Montgomery, Quincy Jones, Jimmy Smith, Chico O'Farrill, Tony Fruscella and Gigi Gryce ( Nica 's tempo, 1955).

In the 1960s, he worked on another big band recordings, such as Charles Mingus ' (Pre -Bird, 1960), Stanley Turrentine 1965, Johnny Hodges 1966/67, and Sonny Rollins ' Alfie ( 1966).

In 1970 he worked with Louis Armstrong; 1986 Benny Goodman. In 1989 he participated in Gunther Schuller's ensemble at a Japan tour with. The mid-1990s he belonged to the Jimmy Heath Big Band. In the 1990s, Danny Bank played with on the album Out Of This World by Loren Schoenberg.
