Danny GarcÃa
Danny Oscar García ( born March 20, 1988 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American professional boxer Puerto Rican descent and the current world champion of WBC and WBA Super World Champion in the light welterweight.
Amateur career
It was 2005 U.S. U - 19 champion at lightweight and also won the International Tammer Tournament in Finland 26. In 2006 he was U.S. champion at lightweight, where he defeated Ray Robinson, Jesse Belmonte, Terrence Crawford and Luis Ramos.
In 2007 he defeated at the U.S. Championships in the light welterweight James Berry, Ronnie Reams, Hector Ramos and Andre Sherard, but then lost in the semifinals just against Brad Solomon ( 13:14 ), with which he won the bronze medal. The national qualifying heats for participation in the 2008 Summer Olympics, the so-called U.S. Olympic Trials in August 2007 in Houston, he reached the second place in the light welterweight. Professional career
Shortly before his pro debut he was taken by Golden Boy Promotions under contract and won his first professional fight on 17 November 2007 in Atlantic City by Ko in the first round against Mike Denby. By mid-2009 he defeated 13 other opponents, including eight by knockout. On 2 December 2009 he won the Intercontinental Youth in Philadelphia title of WBC light welterweight in the Association; he defeated the Mexicans while Enrique Colin Reyes (28 wins - 6 losses ) by Ko in the second round.
On 26 February 2010 he also a points victory against the British Ashley Theophane ( 25-3 ), and on 7 May 2010 scored a TKO win against Christopher Leonard Fernández ( 18-9 ). On 30 July 2010 he defeated the Mexicans Jorge Romero ( 17-2 ) away by TKO and became interimer youth world champion of WBC welterweight. With three victories including against the former North American Champion Mike Arnaoutis ( 22-6 ) and former WBA / WBO / IBF world champion Nate Campbell ( 33-7 ), he qualified for a world title eliminator.
This he won on October 15, 2011 in Los Angeles on points against former WBO champion Kendall Holt ( 27-4 ), where he was honored with the Intercontinental Championship title WBO light welterweight. On 14 July 2012, he boxed in Las Vegas in a unification bout against WBA champion Amir Khan ( 26-2 ). He had his opponent three times on the ground and won in the fourth round by TKO early as the referee intervened and Khan took out of the fight. On 20 October, he also won the rematch against Érik Morales by KO in the fourth round.
On April 27, 2013, boxed against Zab Judah ( 42-7 ) had this.
