Dantchiao

Dantchiao (also: Dan Tchiao, Dantchio ) is a rural municipality in the department of Magaria in Niger.

Geography

Dantchiao lies in the large landscape Sudan and shares land borders with the neighboring state of Nigeria. The neighboring communities in Niger are Bandé the northwest, Dungass in the northeast, Dogo Dogo in the southeast and Magaria in the West. The municipality is divided into 49 administrative villages, 16 traditional villages, 30 hamlets and 34 stock. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village Dantchiao.

History

Dantchiao came early 20th century, first under British, from 1906 under French control. The French taught in 1908 in a Canton Dantchiao one. 2002 emerged the rural community Dantchiao as part of a nationwide administrative reform from the Canton Dantchiao.

Population

At the 2001 census Dantchiao had 41.430 inhabitants. For the year 2010 56.245 inhabitants were calculated. In Dantchiao especially farming life be operated Hausa and Fulani on Agropastoralismus specialized.

Economy and infrastructure

The municipality is located in that narrow zone along the border with Nigeria, ranging from Tounouga in the west to the east Malawa and operated in irrigated crop production for cash crops. By Dantchiao the National Road 13, which connects the village with the neighboring communities Dungass and Magaria runs.
