Dark Angel (Band)

Dark Angel is a thrash metal band from Los Angeles.

Band History

1981 founded the school friends Don Doty, Rob Yahn and Jimmy Durkin the band shell shock, but changed the name shortly thereafter in Dark Angel. With Mike Andare another member was in the band. Even before publication of the first demos Mike Andare got out again and was replaced by Jack Schwartz. With this line several demos were recorded, but which remained largely unpublished. The demos attracted the attention of several record companies. It was first published with Merciless Death 1985 single. In the same year finally appeared with their debut album We Have Arrived.

Jack Schwartz difference then left the band and was initially replaced by Lee Rush of Megadeth. This was only a few months in the band. Gene Hoglan eventually took over the vacant become drums. Several pressings of their debut show Hoglan instead of Schwartz on the band photos. With a new bassist Mike Gonzales got inside.

1986 appears the album Darkness Descends. It is still considered a milestone of the thrash metal genre. The band toured extensively after the album's release, including with Motörhead and Megadeth. 1987 had a tour with Possessed be canceled because Don Doty was involved in a serious car accident and not insured. After several problems with the singer, so he did not show up in some performances of the band, he was fired.

Ron Rinehart took over the vocals on the third album, Leave Scars, which was released in 1989. The subsequent "Live Scars " tour was recorded and released in 1990 under the motto tour. Already on this live album is the new guitarist Brett Erikson (previously worked with the band Viking ) heard. By Jimmy Durkin the last original member left the band.

In 1991, the last album by the band appears with the title Time Does Not Heal. Following the publication of a best-of album and the departure of Gene Hoglan towards Death, the band broke up in 1992.

1999 a reunion was planned, but it did not happen. 2002 finally reformed the band in the cast Ron Rinehart (vocals), Eric Meyer ( guitar), Danyael Williams ( bass) and Gene Hoglan (drums). So far, they only played concerts, other publications did not exist.
