Viking (Band)

Viking is an American thrash metal band from Los Angeles, California that was founded in 1986 under the name of tracer, is renamed Viking in the same year, again separated in 1990 and got together again in 2011.

History

The band was formed in spring 1985 by Ron Daniel ( stage name: Ron Eriksen ) founded after he had previously played in several punk bands. However, this music appeared too slow for him, so he joined forces with drummer Matt Jordan and bassist James Lareau, the band tracers that would later be renamed Viking. Daniel took over the role of singer and guitarist. A short time later came yet guitarist Brett Sarachek ( with the artist name Brett Eriksen ) on a display towards the band. Together they played a few pieces of Slayer. In 1986, the band then called in to Viking.

Together they wrote the first songs that consisted partly of material from the previous band of the band members. Also already followed the first smaller gigs. After her second concert, the band reached a deal with Metal Blade Records, which was scheduled for the next six albums. The band now also played as the opening band for Megadeth, Forbidden and Sacred Reich. In addition, first own, more gigs followed. The band released with Do or Die and Man of Straw two albums in 1988 and 1989. Spite of the contract with Metal Blade over six albums and an upcoming tour with Helstar by the United States, Ron Daniel left the band, to the Christian faith as it had found. He left the band in 1990, went with him, Matt Jordan, who also joined the Christian faith. The band broke up in the same year.

Brett Sarachek represented guitarist Jim Durkin ( Dark Angel ) on a world tour and joined the band on for several years. In 2011 Ron Daniel and Matt Jordan founded a new band. Manager Glenn Rogers, a founding member of Deliverance and long- time member of Hirax, the band as a guitarist joined.

Style

The lyrics of the band act of warriors, endless war and death. The band plays thrash metal, which is described as very intense. The band played on their first album yet simple, primitive thrash metal, so this has changed completely, so that the pieces be far more complex on the second album.
