Forbidden (band)

Forbidden is a thrash metal band from San Francisco. The band was founded in 1985 as Forbidden Evil. Their first two albums are now seen as a genre classic.

History

After several demos, the band from Combat Records was signed. On the advice of her manager, the band emphasized the word " Evil " from the band's name. At this time still played Robert Flynn at Forbidden. After he was fired shortly before the release of their debut album, Flynn moved to Vio - lence and later founded Machine Head. Flynn was replaced by Glenn Alvelais.

In 1988 the debut album Forbidden Evil, which received rave reviews. With Exodus, Death Angel and Testament, the band toured Europe. The appearance at the Dynamo Open Air cut with the band and released the recordings later than EP Raw Evil: Live at the Dynamo. Alvelais left the band in the direction Testament and was replaced by Tim Calvert.

1990 was published with Twisted into form the second album. Forbidden managed, the hardness of the debut add a hitherto unknown virtuosity. Twisted into form counts as the debut of the classics of thrash metal. The contract with Combat expired and was not renewed. Combat published in 1992 without consulting the band a best-of compilation called Point of No Return. That same year, Paul Bostaph joined Slayer.

In the meantime, Forbidden released four demos. In 1995, the band of Gun Records was signed. New drummer Steve Jacobs was. The third album Distortion was also released in 1995. Despite the good reviews, many fans were disappointed with the new songs. 1997 Green appeared with the last album, which was very reminiscent Machine Head. After a short tour with Testament, the band broke up.

Calvert hired at Nevermore. Singer Russ Anderson founded the Parking Lot Prophets, while the remaining members of the band Manmade God from the baptism lifted. For the thrash -of -the- Titans -raiser for the festival with cancer Testament vocalist Chuck Billy, there was a one-off reunion.

2008 and 2009 played Forbidden some exclusive shows in Japan, Australia and Europe, including at the Bang Your Head 2008 Balingen or at the Rock Hard Festival 2009 in Gelsenkirchen.

On 22 October 2010 Forbidden released their comeback album " Omega Wave".
