Darko Pančev

Darko Pančev ( Macedonian Дарко Панчев; born September 7, 1965 in Skopje ) is a retired Yugoslav and Macedonian footballer.

The native Macedonians began his career in 1982 at Vardar Skopje. In 1988 he moved to Red Star Belgrade. There he won the Yugoslav Championship three times (1990, 1991, 1992 ), once the Cup (1990) and 1991, the European Champions Cup and the Intercontinental Cup. In the same year he won the Golden Boot as top scorer in Europe. He moved in 1992 to Inter Milan, but could not prevail and there was given from January 1994 to end of the season to the then Bundesliga side VfB Leipzig ( 10 games, 2 goals). After another season at Inter, he joined in the 1995/96 season again in the Bundesliga to Fortuna Dusseldorf (14 games, 2 goals). He finished his career in 1997 at FC Sion in Switzerland.

With the Yugoslav national team, he participated in the 1990 World Cup, where he scored two goals in three missions. He played 27 international matches for Yugoslavia and 6 more for Macedonia.

Pančev is now director of the Macedonian record champions Vardar Skopje.
