Darnell Martin
Darnell Martin ( born January 7, 1964 in Bronx, New York City, New York) is an American director and screenwriter.
Life
Darnell Martin was born in the Bronx. She attended Sarah Lawrence College and graduated from the New York University Film School. In 1992, she turned Suspect with her first short film. In 1994, she was the first African-American woman who has directed and produced a film for a major studio. The romantic comedy Life Is Trouble arose for Columbia Pictures. Darnell Martin who also wrote the screenplay for this film. In addition to her work for the cinema Darnell Martin also directed for television series such as Oz - hell behind bars, ER - The ER, Criminal Intent - Criminal Intent, Law & Order and Grey's Anatomy. 2008 directed and wrote the screenplay for the film Cadillac Records, which tells the story of the record label Chess Records. Since then, she has worked mainly as a director in television series like Gossip Girl, Happy Town, and The Mentalist.
