Darning

The plug is a needle work, by the missing or broken threads of a knitting or tissue to be replaced.

When you plug a knitting that same material is used, from which the damaged piece is made. For mending a garment fabric best extended threads of a new piece of the same substance are taken. In linen fabrics is luster yarn used in tree darning wool ( Twist ).

The Stopffäden may be rotated only loosely so that they fill well. The darning needles are long, from beginning to end almost equally strong, have an oval eye and a blunt tip. Since the Now stuff should be as closely mimic the tissue, there are various Stopfstiche (linen, twill, damask, tulle, knit stitches pot and so on ).

Tissue plugs are distinguished by the different pattern to produce the number of recorded threads. The knitted mesh pots is that Tüllstopfe mimics the peculiar, but uniform nature of the tissue after. To produce a fabric pot parallel adjacent warp threads are first drawn and then the across -speed wrapping threads with which the pattern is formed. Both need to be drawn so far by the material, as the same may be damaged. All tissue plugs are running on the left side. For mending a knitting except the mesh and the mesh pot is used, which resembles perfectly the canvas pot. The threads of tulle running in three directions. First, the oblique, the crossing threads are drawn and then the horizontal, fasten the other.

To avoid finger injuries, a metal thimble, a darning mushroom or a darning darning is often used.
