Darrell A. Amyx

Darrell Amyx Arlynn ( born April 2, 1911 in Exeter, California, † January 10, 1997 in Kensington, California ) was an American classical archaeologist.

After studying at Stanford and Berkeley, he was awarded his doctorate in 1947 in Berkeley. From 1946 until his retirement in 1978 he taught at the University of California, Berkeley.

His life's work was art of Corinth and especially the Archaic Corinthian vase painting. In the wake of Humfry Payne, he pointed to the method by John D. Beazley Corinthian pottery individual ' hands' to tangible individual artists, which he decorated with Notnamen because hardly any of them signed.
