Exeter is a city in Tulare County in the U.S. state of California, United States.
The origins of the town date back to a railway line, which was built in 1888 by the San Joaquin Valley. DW Parkhurst, a representative of the Southern Pacific Transportation, bought the land from the settlers John Firebaugh and founded a settlement, which he named after his home town of Exeter.
In October 1929 there was an uprising against Exeter in the Philippine population. A mob stormed a Filipino labor camp and burned it down. This breed unrest against the Philippine population spread along the west coast of the United States.
