Das Boot (Album)

The boat is the debut album of the German music project U96. It was published on 6 March 1992 at the record label Polydor.

Background

The album was produced by the production team Matiz/AC16 that existed alongside Alex Christensen from Hayo Panarinfo, Helmut Hoinkis and Ingo Hauss.

The titular piece is a techno version of the soundtrack for the feature film The boat of the composer Klaus Doldinger. The piece I Wanna Be A Kennedy was primarily based on the hit Visage Fade to Grey from the year 1980.

The album was, with over 500,000 units sold of the first commercially successful techno albums.
