Stingers was a production group of DEFA, which until 1954 the DEFA Studio for newsreels and documentaries, and from 1955 to 1964 belonged to the DEFA Studio for Feature Films of 1953. Genesis

The idea for the series comes from the Chairman of the State Film Committee Sepp Schwab and director Richard Groschopp that led a conversation to create a satirical and humorous short film series on 22 January 1953.
