Dassault Aviation S. A. is a French manufacturer of business jets, military and formerly regional aircraft.

The company is next to Gulfstream Aerospace and Bombardier Aerospace one of the world's top three manufacturers of business aircraft. In upscale corporate jets Dassault Aviation is the world market leader with about 40 percent market share. In addition, the company was estimated from the year 2000, the third largest military aircraft manufacturer in Europe and the sixth largest in the world.

History

The company was founded by Marcel Dassault. Previously it was known under the name Avions Marcel Bloch or Societé des "MB" and also operated under the name Avions Marcel Dassault - Breguet and Dassault (AMD). Technical Director-General was 1949-1981 Henri Deplante.

The company was also known by he developed CAD system CATIA worldwide, which was later spun off into the daughter Dassault Systèmes.

In December 2008, the purchase was its stake in Thales Group for 1.96 billion euros governed by contract and completed in March 2009 with Alcatel -Lucent. In the same month, the acquisition of Thales shares of Groupe Dassault was decided. Thus Dassault Aviation holds 25.9 percent stake in the company.

In July 2009, the company delivered the 2000th business aircraft of type Falcon ' out to a customer.
