Datil (New Mexico)

Datil is an unincorporated community in the U.S. state of New Mexico in Catron County, which has about 620 inhabitants. It is located on the edge of the Cibola National Forest and at the intersection of U.S. Highway 60 and State Route 12, New Mexico Datil was founded in 1884 as a store with a post office for the surrounding farms was opened at this intersection.

Also brought to awareness it has a chili breeding with the name " Datil ", which is a small, pointed variety of the genus Capsicum chinense. It is grown exclusively in the area of Datil and is widely used in commercially prepared chili Hotsauces.
